Finely sculpted, the triangular face with eyes painted in white, pupils in black, extended cosmetic lines and eyebrows in blue, red corners, the nostrils recessed, the filtrum indicated, the small mouth with full outlined lips, muscular neck, the ears finely incised in front of broad blue painted wig with striations in black

The shoulder-length flaring wig and upward gaze suggests that this head was probably part of a block statue. This was a popular type during the Thutmoside era; cf. exhibition catalogue, Eternal Egypt, British Museum Press, London, 2001, p. 121, no. 45.

The deep blue pigment on the striated wig relates to the funerary purpose of the sculpture; blue is an Osirian colour of regeneration.
