This bar is an example of the 'trapping' technique where the mosaic motif is trapped in a layer of white glass to protect and hold it together. For a similar, cf. S. M. Goldstein, Pre-Roman and Early Roman Glass in the Corning Museum, New York, 1979, p. 219, no. 631.
