Despite its main title, this edition is not a herbal but deals with other aspects of the natural world, with descriptions and illustrations of animals, real and fabled, birds, fish, and gems and their properties. Apiarius also printed a German edition with the same woodcuts, newly cut for use here, in 1536. Adams H-1020; Nissen, ZBI 4729; Wellcome 3329.
