FIRST EDITION OF CUBERO'S AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL ACCOUNT OF HIS CIRCUMNAVIGATION. Ordained as a priest in Zaragoza, in 1671 the Propoganda fide appointed him as a missionary to Asia and the East Indies. He travelled extensively overland, visiting Moscow, Astrakhan, Armenia, Persia before reaching Goa. From there, he travelled to Madras and then on to Malacca, where he was detained by the Dutch. Eventually freed, he sailed for Manilla, then Mexico, arriving back in Europe in 1679. VERY RARE - the last record of the present work selling at auction is Sotheby's 9-11 March 1959, lot 341.
