Painted in iron-red and enriched in gilt with alternate red dragons and precious objects at the rim, one with two confronting phoenix to the center, the other with a Kakiemon flower-head, brown-line rim

The 'Red Dragon Service' was one of the first major dinner-services produced for the Saxon court. The earliest pieces were made around 1730, but the service was repeatedly supplemented.
