Lot Essay

This guéridon relates closely to a larger version of the model (index number 1103) specifically ordered by a Mr. Buckner in 1908. The larger version was available with either a vase, identical to that on present lot, or with Léon Messagé's enfant guerrier. The larger example produced for Bruckner was sold Sotheby's, New York, 14 April 2008, lot 338 ($50,000).
