Lot Essay

This very rare design of a red ground coffee pot is paralleled in a rimless dish in the Musée National de la Céramique in Sèvres, (Inv. 22695, Frédéric Hitzel and Mireille Jacotin, Iznik l'aventure d'une collection, Paris, 2005, fig. 54, p.313). Our dish and the one in Sèvres both feature coffee pots with elegantly curved handles and a cusped base.
