Lot Essay

Alex Harris has photographed extensively in the American South, Alaska, New Mexico and Cuba. His photographs of Cuba formed part of an important exhibition A Revolutionary Project: Cuba from Evans to Now at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, Getty in 2011.

His work is represented in a number of major collections including The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles and The Museum of Modern Art, New York. His awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Rockefeller Foundation Humanities Fellowship and a Lyndhurst Prize.
