With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvered dial and gold raised indexes in 1983 and its subsequent sale on 6 January 1984. Furthermore delivered with a fitted veneered presentation box.
If collectors were asked to divide the past and the present in the history of wristwatches, a democratic vote would probably result in the majority pointing at the mid-1980s. In Patek Philippe's case, it makes perfect sense as the beginning of the modern era is considered around 1985 with the launch of references 3940 and 3970.
Consequently, references 3450 and 2499/100 must be regarded the last vintage complicated watches by Patek Philippe, not only by their manual finish, looks and charm, but also by denomination.
