Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 19 August 1995, additional 18K pink gold plain back no. 2'970'170, 18K pink gold and wooden setting pin, original fitted burgundy leather presentation box with winding facility. Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with opaline white dial and 9 Breguet hour markers in rose gold in 1994 and its subsequent sale on 13 February 1995.

Purchased by the present owner in 1995, this watch has never been offered in public before and is furthermore preserved in very good overall condition.

Production of reference 5040 was launched in 1995 and ceased in 2007, the majority cased in white gold, a smaller number available in pink gold. The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 295.
