A CELADON AND RUSSET JADE 'MAGNOLIA' BRUSH WASHER, XI
17TH/18TH CENTURY
The brush washer is naturalistically carved as an open flower-head with deep rounded sides. The twin-handles are carved in the shape of a gnarled magnolia branch bearing smaller flowers and buds. The stone is of a mottled, brownish-celadon tone.
