A SUPERB WHITE JADE IMPERIAL 'DRAGON' VASE
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-95)
The vase is well carved in relief to each side with a medallion enclosing a coiled full-faced five-clawed dragon. The dragon is depicted chasing a flaming pearl amidst scrolling clouds and above rocks emerging from crashing waves. The waisted neck is flanked by a pair of plain square-form loop handles. The well polished stone is of an even pale tone.
7 1/8 in. (18.1 cm.) high, carved wood stand with dragons

In the family collection since the first quarter of the 20th century.

Lot Essay

A similar white jade vase but with a cover and loose-rings from the Vint Collection was sold in our Hong Kong rooms on December 3rd 2008, lot 2606.
