AN INCISED IVORY COURT TABLET, HU
MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
Of arched, tapering form, the hu is delicately incised to one side with a river landscape scene with tall trees, rockwork, pavillions, sampans and figures engaged in leisurely activities, with mountains and birds in the far distance. The other side is decorated with garden scenes depicting groups of figures greeting each other.
