A SINO-TIBETAN RITUAL CONCH SHELL WITH GILT BRONZE 'GARUDA' MOUNT

The shell is mounted all over with gilt bronze that is cast in relief to the front with Garuda. The mythical beast is reserved on a dense ground of leafy scrolls that has been further embellished with inset semi-precious stones. The spiral top section is further decorated with a band of emblems.

Provenance
Property from a Private European Collection amassed by a Portuguese Ambassador in Asia during the early 20th Century.
