A SCROLL PAINTING OF SCHOLARS IN A GARDEN SCENE
DAOGUANG PERIOD (1821-1850), DATED TO THE CYCLICAL YEAR OF GENGYIN, CORRESPONDING TO 1830
The painting depicts a scholar greeting a friend in a large fenced garden with tall trees and rockwork. There is another figure and a young boy in the garden, with the moon in the far distance. The poetic inscription to the top right describes this scene, and dates the painting to the sixth month of the Gengyin year of Daoguang. It bears the signature of Qian Du (1764-1844), followed by his two-character seal mark.
