KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The brush pot is brightly enamelled around the exterior with ladies engaged in leisurely pursuits in a pavillion, which is surrounded by trees and wispy clouds. The reverse has been enamelled with four lines of calligraphy ending with two seal marks.
5 7/8 in. (15 cm.) high
Provenance
Acquired in Macau in the 1930s by a prominent Portuguese doctor, who was an avid collector of Chinese porcelain and works of art, and thence by descent to the current owner.
