A BLUE AND WHITE, PUCE ENAMEL-DECORATED BOWL
DAOGUANG UNDERGLAZE BLUE SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1820-1850)
The wide bowl rises from a short foot and is decorated to the exterior with the eight Daoist immortals in underglaze blue surrounded by an overglaze ground of crashing waves in puce enamel. The interior is further decorated with a central medallion enclosing Shoulao standing beside a spotted deer, against a background of puce-enamelled waves.
9 in. (22.8 cm.) diam.
