Details
It was also in 1951 that M. Jayer bought his first parcel in Vosne-Roman?e " Cros Parantoux ". Cros Parantoux had fallen into disuse after phylloxera, and had been used to plant Jerusalem artichokes. M. Jayer began to clear it while tending the family domaine, and successfully lobbied the INAO to promote it to premier cru status in 1953. Jayer continued to expand his holdings in this climat over the years, and according to Allen Meadows book The Pearl of the C?te he purchased the last available portion from Robert Arnoux's sister in 1970. Cros Parantoux today enjoys a mythic status, and it is considered the Jayer trademark par excellence.
