The colophon on this manuscript has been slightly tampered with in that the words al-faqir (the needy) and Shah have been rewritten. If the signature did originally read Shah Mahmud, then this is the work of Shah Mahmud Nishapuri. The illumination points to Herat as the place of origin which would thus indicate that it is the work of a different, albeit very accomplished, calligrapher.
