Yesârîzâde Mustafa 'Izzet (d. 1849) is the son of Mehmet Es'ad Yesari Efendi (d. 1798) of whom a signed panel is offered in this sale, lot 89. He is know to have fully codified the rules of jali ta'liq. He was trained by his father from whom he received his ijaza in 1788. It is recorded that they went on pilgrimage to Mecca together in 1792. He held various official charges, including that of Heaf of the Government Printing Press. He is thought to have brought Turkish ta'liq to unequalled heights after 1834.
Yesârîzâde Mustafa 'Izzet taught ta'liq script to Abdülfettah Efendi to whom he gave his license in 1847. Abdülfettah Efendi (1815?-1896) also learnt naskh and thuluth script with Hafiz Mustafa Sakir Efendi. From 1858 onward, he was appointed Head Engraver at the Imperial Mint. He mainly worked in jali inscriptions and was among the foremost tughra writers of the reigns of sultan Abdulmecid to Sultan Abdulhamid II (Ugur Derman, Eternal Letters, Sharjah, 2009, pp.17-208).
