Miles Tomalin, poet and documentary scriptwriter, met Edward Barnsley during 1920s when he moved to Hampshire. He lived with his wife in a cottage attached to Barnsley's property. The convertible table/settle is listed in the client register and job books at the Barnsley workshop. It was a gift to Tomalin.
