We can compare the Beyeler Solomon Island staff's figure to another one published by Waite and Conru (2008 fig.12) and to an axe handle (fig.78) also pictured in this same book. All of them present characteristic prognathous faces and tall circular earrings, features also found on musumusu canoe prow (op. cit. pp. 40-53).
