An early Guro zamble mask of unusual and rare form. Following a surrealistic composition, it represents a bushcow, from the horns to the eyes, and a panther below the eyes. The mask wearer was chosen from the best dancers of the clan. To fulfill his duties, he had to make offerings and sacrifices to the mask and respect a number of taboos. A closely related mask was exhibited in New York during the African Negro Art show of Weyhe Gallery in 1940 (fig. 4).
