CHONTAL STONE MASK
Late Preclassic, ca. 300-100 B. C
The unusual ovoid face panel of exceptionally thick section with prominent brows, long, flattened nose carved in relief with fleshy lips parted, in pale green-grey speckled andesite, pierced twice at the corners of the forehead.
Height: 5½ in. (13.3 cm.)
