Interestingly, no known stools bear the Grendey label or can be firmly attributed to his workshop. However, Grendey's output was prolific, and the carved shell and husk design regularly appears, at times with minor variations, on furniture from his Clerkenwell workshop. Other related examples include: a side chair sold anonymously at Christie's, New York, 11 June 2010, lot 221; two pair of chairs, presumably from a larger set, from the collection of Cynthia P. Laughlin, sold Christie's, New York, 19 April 1986 and later, the collection of Theodore and Ruth Baum, Sotheby's, New York, 22 October 2004, lot 407. Further chairs are illustrated in R. Edwards The Dictionary of English Furniture, 1953, p. 295, fig. 57.
