This extremely rare documented golf club by James McEwan, stamped with his name and below the emblem of Scotland, a thistle. This club is recorded as being in the possession of 'The present head of the family Douglas McEwan of Musselburgh' in an article published in Golf magazine in 1896 on the McEwan family and lists the old golf clubs in his possession of which no. 5 is described as a short spoon with apple head and ash shaft; stamped 'J. McEwan' with thistle above and written on the sole 'James McEwan, 1786'.
