A LONG-NOSED SCARED-HEAD BAFFING SPOON
THE PARK FAMILY One cannot help but be in awe of the Park family and their prowess at golf. David was a successful gutta golf ball maker. His brothers, Willie and Mungo, were Open Champions and clubmakers. In 1854, as a brash 21 year old, Willie won the Championship in 1860 and then in 1863, 1866, 1875, and Mungo in 1874. Willie Junior was champion in 1887 and 1889. As ball and clubmakers at Musselburgh, Willie Junior showed ability as a clubmaker and designer at an early stage. He developed the 'Bulger' driver in 1884 and patented the first diamond mesh pattern golf ball in 1890 and his most successful, a wry neck putter. He was also a leading golf course architect.
