Signed Mitsufune, Meiji Period (late 19th century)
On tall tapering tripod feet with applied handles to the shoulder, the oviform body incised and inlaid in silver, copper, shakudo and gilt with a cockerel in a plum branch, the reverse with a goose in flight against the moon, the pierced cover with a stylised chrysanthemum and scrolling foliage
