A Lacquer Kazaridana [Display Cabinet]
Meiji Period (late 19th century)
Of typical form with various sized shelves, drawers, hinged and sliding doors, decorated in gold, silver, red and black hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, togidashi-e and hirame and inlaid in ivory and mother-of-pearl with various rural scenes, courtiers on a veranda, a nio, ducks on water amongst flowers and grasses, a large ho-o bird and paulownia crests towards the base, silver fittings engraved with flowers and foliage
