The panels attributed to Namikawa Sosuke, Meiji Period (late 19th century)
Of tip-up form, the carved wooden frame with flowers and foliage in low and high relief inset with circular and fan-shaped panels decorated in wireless coloured cloisonné enamels on pale blue grounds with brds amongst flowers and a scene of Lake Biwa, in the style of Watanabe Seitei

Namikawa Sosuke was known for making panels for furniture and walls, the most notable of which are the framed panels of 1906-07 in the Geihinkan, Akasaka Detached Palace, Tokyo, and those of 1920 made for the ship S.S. Kumano Maru.
