A SET OF THREE QUEEN ANNE SILVER CASTERS
MARK OF CHRISTOPHER CANNER, LONDON, 1703, BRITANNIA STANDARD
Each partly fluted baluster and on gadrooned foot, the pierced bayonet covers with gadrooned finials, engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked near rims and on covers
8½ in. (21.5 cm.) high and smaller
23 oz. 15 dwt. (832 gr.)
The arms are those of Ashhurst quartering Dutton and Orrell impaling Paget for Sir Henry Ashhurst 1st Bt. (1645-1711) of Waterstock, Oxfordshire and his wife Diana (c.1648-1707), daughter of William, Lord Paget, whom he married in 1670. He was MP for Wilton 1698-1702, an important figure in Nonconformist circles and an Alderman of London. (3)
