3 volumes, royal 8o (260 x 175 mm). 155 tinted lithograph plates after J.J. and J.W. Audubon by W. E. Hitchcock and R. Trembly, printed and finished by hand by J. T. Bowen. (Some light browning, some occassional spotting.) Original publisher's brown morocco (some light scuffing).
George Lockwood's reprint of the octavo edition of the Quadrupeds, printed in the main from the same lithographic stones and stereotype plates as the earlier editions. The stones were destroyed in the 1870s by a fire in a Philadelphia warehouse. (3)
