One page, folio (19 x 13¾in.). Engraved text within a border composed of state seals, with an image of the Washington monument at top, and a reproduction of Trumbull's Declaration at bottom. Facsimile signatures after Binns. Hand colored.
A beautiful hand-colored variant of Buttre's rendition of the Declaration. Other examples appear without color and with an image of Independence Hall at top. Butre (1821-1893) was one of the most prolific engravers in mid-19th century America. Bidwell 29.
