AN INTRIGUING LETTER TO THE LIBRARIAN OF CONGRESS MENTIONING HIS WHITE HOUSE PREDECESSORS: "Thanks for the Grant. It is good. Now for Buchanan, Taylor and Harrison. Can't you go ahead and get B. immediately?" -- TAYLOR, Zachary. Letter signed ("Z. Taylor"), as Colonel, to Lt. T. B. W. Stockton, H. Q., Fort Crawford, Prarie du Chien, 12 Dec. 1835. 1p., 4to, matted and framed with engraved color portrait. Taylor informs Lt. Stockton that the U.S. Comptroller has disallowed a claim for $244 "paid me by you, for extra services while superintending the erection of new Barracks at this place" Taylor promises to go to Washington to appeal "not only this but some other claims." -- ARTHUR, Chester A. A.L.S. ("C.A. Arthur"), as Inspector General, to Col. Richard Delafield, Albany, 3 April 1862. 1p., 8vo, Inspector General's stationery, tipped to a matt. "Mr. G. W. Yerby who will hand you this, has a steel pointed projectile which he claims will be effective against iron clad ships. I have referred him to you as the one best qualified to judge whether it be worthy of attention." Together 3 items. (3)
