A CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL SHALLOW DISH
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The dish is decorated to the interior with a central gilt medallion engraved with the yinyang symbol encircled by the Eight Buddhist Emblems, bajixiang, interspersed with meandering foliage all on a bright turquoise ground, the everted rim with a band of lingzhi on a pale grey ground, the underside with alternating lotus and peony flowers on scrolling foliage, inset with an engraved gilt medallion centred with a pair of fish.
