TWO JADE CARVINGS OF MANDARIN DUCKS
YUAN/MING DYNASTY (1279-1644)
The first is carved as a finial with a cylindrical mount on the underside of the base and two smaller mounts on its breast, the feathered and facial details are deeply carved and incised, the stone is of a pale celadon stone with russet flecks; the second bird is carved with ribbed detail on its back simulating feathered wings, the facial details are incised, the stone is of a pale grey tone with pale and dark russet striations.
