The helmet an eight-plate black lacquered bulbous iron suji bachi [helmet bowl] with gilt fukurin [edging], four-piece itazane-jikoro [neck -guard] with blue sugake-odoshi lacing, the substantial fukigaeshi [turn-backs] and mabizashi (brim) clad with dyed leather, the fukigaeshi with applied gilt katabami [wood sorrel] mon, black lacquered iron menpo [face mask] with gilt teeth (moustache lacking), three-tier yodare-gake [throat protector], the two-piece cuirass of black-lacquered large rounded profile yamagata shittsukezane [sheet simulating laced scales] laced in sugake-odoshi style, gyoyo [shoulder strap covers] of iron clad in leather with gilt fukurin and mon matching the fukigaeshi of the helmet, the kusazuri [skirt] of eight tassets each of five tiers matching the cuirass, hyotan-gote [sleeves], black lacquered iron itazane chu-sode [shoulder guards], matching Iyo haidate [thigh guard], with Shino sune-ate [lower leg guards]
