A TANTO IN WAKIZASHI MOUNTING

The tanto blade of hirazukuri configuration, length 26.2cm., itame hada and gunome hamon, a bohi groove on the omote and futasujibi on the ura, the wakizashi style mounting with black and red mottled lacquer scabbard with insects depicted in gold and silver maki-e, oval copper tsuba with a heron in high relief inlay, the fuchi-kashira of two Nio guardians neck wrestling with a rope all carved in high relief on a shibuichi ground with details in gold, the menuki of a dragonfly and another insect in copper and gold, the shibuichi kozuka with a boy drummer dancing carved in shishiaibori with gold details the kozuka signed Shokodo Takayuki (Tanaka Johachi)
