Sugata [configuration]: honzukuri, iori-mune, shallow curve, chu-gissaki
Kitae [forging pattern]: itame nagare with masame, prominent chikei
Hamon [tempering pattern]: suguha with ko-notare and groups of sanbonsugi of nioi with ko-nie
Boshi [tip]: midarekomi with ko-maru
Nakago [tang]: two mekugi-ana, apparent machi-okuri, sujigai file marks, ha-agari kurijiri
Habaki [collar]: single copper lightly gilt
Horimono [carving]: bohi
Nagasa [length of blade]: 68.5cm.
Koshirae [mounting]: fine katana koshirae with nashiji and togidashi-e scabbard, the kojiri, koiguchi, and kurikata all in gold fundame, matching fittings of cherry-viewing, the kogai of shakudo nanako with flowering sprigs of cherry tied to a bundle of twigs in high relief of shakudo with gold and silver inlay, matching fuchi-kashira with on the fuchi a carriage with vacant traces beneath a cherry tree, on the kashira the same carriage with shutters closed, and menuki of the obliging horse half-hidden from view beneath the cherry tree, all in shakudo high relief inlay with silver and gold details, the tsuba iron aori-gata (perhaps a pun on the horse) with flowering cherry tree carved in high relief with silver blossoms
