Lot Essay

This artist has been identified as Domenico di Zanobi (documented 1467-1481), who was closely associated with Filippo Lippi's studio (see C.B. Strehlke, Italian Paintings, 1250-1450, in the John G. Johnson Collection and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, 2004, pp. 121-123).

We are grateful to Everett Fahy for the attribution of this painting, based on first-hand inspection.
