LATE DYNASTY VI TO FIRST INTERMEDIATE PERIOD, CIRCA 2200-2100 B.C.
Sculpted in sunk relief, preserving a man in profile striding to the right, his left leg advanced, holding a long staff in his left hand, a scepter adorned with a papyrus umbel in his right, wearing a short pleated kilt with a triangular apron, bracelets, a multi-strand broad collar, and a smooth short wig, his ears exposed, his face with elongated eyes, a curved nose and full lips, vertical bands of hieroglyphs on either side, the column before him reading: "Seal Bearer/Treasurer of the King of Lower Egypt, Sole Companion, Khnum-hotpe," the column behind reading: "Sole Companion, Overseer of Tenant Landholders/Sacred Cultivators of the Great House, Khnum-hotpe," preserving some red and black pigment
