Lot Essay

Farini is probably best known for his association with the seminal studio potter William De Morgan. For a dish in the Victoria & Albert Museum made for De Morgan in 1890 and painted by Farini (also signed with his monogram within a Star of David), see W. Gaunt and M.D.E. Clayton-Stamm, William De Morgan, London, 1971, p. 126, pls. 120-1. A similarly marked dish by Farini was sold Christie's, London, 22 April 2008, lot 127.
