A WUCAI 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' BOWL
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN DOUBLE-CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
The rounded sides rise to a flaring rim. The exterior is enamelled with two dragons amidst flower sprays chasing 'flaming pearls' divided by two descending phoenixes below a narrow band of the Eight Buddhist Emblems interspersed with ruyi-heads at the mouth. The interior is decorated with a dragon chasing a 'flaming pearl' amidst fire scrolls.

Compare to the pair of similar bowls included in the Hong Kong O.C.S. Exhibition of Ch'ing Polychrome Porcelain, 1979, illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 32. Examples sold at auction include a pair sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 30 May 2005, lot 1508; a single bowl, 28 November 2005, lot 1373; another, 30 May 2006, lot 1427.
