清乾隆白玉獸面活環耳菱口瓶

瓶葵口，棱腹，隨形圈足。造型獨特，雕琢細緻，內外壁棱紋凹凸相應，棱間光素。獸面活環耳。白玉質帶淺沁。

此玉雕造型流行於乾隆時期，當時藝術復古風氣大盛，加上大量玉材自新疆源源不絕供應。北京故宮博物院藏二件相近例子，均體形較高，一件青玉獸耳活環瓶，如本器一樣為棱腹活環耳，另一件龍紋蝶耳尊，帶四環，見1991年石家莊出版《中國玉器全集．6．清》，圖版153-154號。再一件白玉雕仿古紋雙龍活環耳菱口尊2011年6月1日於香港佳士得拍賣，拍品3563號。

此器1969年7月2日於倫敦蘇富比拍賣，拍品72號。後購自倫敦 William Clayton。

Jade carvings of this distinctive form flourished following the revival of archaism during the Qianlong period, alongside an abundant supply of fine jade from the Xinjiang area. A taller vessel with very similar design to the present lot, and another with four loose rings and dragon designs, are in the collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated in Zhongguo Yuqi Quanji, Shijiazhuang, 1991, vol. 6, pls. 153-154. A lobed example with two rings and chilong motifs was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 1 June 2011, lot 3563.
