A PAIR OF DOUCAI 'MEDALLION' BOWLS
DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)
The bowls are delicately potted with steep slightly flaring sides, finely pencilled in underglaze blue and enamelled in yellow, iron-red and green with five roundels containing either flowering or fruiting trees divided by pomegranate sprays above a band of overlapping leaf lappets around the base.

Lot Essay

A Daoguang bowl of this pattern from the Simon Kwan Collection was included in the Exhibition of Imperial of Late Qing, Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983, illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 684.
