A brush pot carved in mirror image to the present example but with the archer turning his back to the viewer and bearing a four-character carver's mark, Wu Zhifan Zhi, from the collection of Pei Shan Tang, is illustrated by L. Tam and Ip Yee, Chinese Bamboo Carving, Part I, Hong Kong, 1978, col. pl. 18, and p. 219 no. 43. Another example of the same pattern to the present brushpot and attributed as the work of Wu Zhifan, is illustrated by Wang Shixiang, Zhu Ke, Renmin meishu chubanshe, 1991, p. 11, no. 9.
