Lot Essay

The present lot was owned by the painter William Keith, a friend of Dirk van Erp, until his passing in 1911. Keith's house, built in 1894 and located in San Francisco, was later purchased by the Eloesser Family, early members of the Sierra Club along with Keith and John Muir. The adjacent Swedenborgian Church recently acquired title to the Eloesser home, where the chandelier has for over 100 years. It is now offered to support the restoration of the landmark church.
