12 parts in 4 volumes, 2° (312 x 185mm). 11 letterpress titles surrounded by hand-coloured and colour-printed nature-printed borders of flowers and leaves (only one title was issued for parts I and II), a total of 20pp. of preliminary text in parts I (4pp.), IV (6pp.), VI (6pp.) and VII (4pp.), 30pp. of indices to individual parts. 1199 (of 1200) plates of nature-printed plants, colour-printed, most with added hand-colouring, each with letterpress caption (part VIII lacking plate Boerhavia diandra), 147 plates with edges folded, the plates numbered in ink in an early hand (a few misnumbered, evidence of previous numbering trimmed away by the binder), letterpress caption overslips bound in at plates numbered 233 and 236 in part VI. (Without the 4pp. dedication to Frederic V of Denmark and the 16pp. 'Index Universalis' sometimes found in part XII, some plates trimmed close just touching image or caption, 4 plates with very short marginal tears, occasional light spotting.) Late 18th-century calf, spines with raised bands and red and green morocco labels (extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: stamps erased from titles to parts VII and X.
