Hand-coloured engraved map by Jansson, title to lower-left enclosed in an elaborate cartouche surmounted by the Sultan flanked by two supporters, galleons depicted in the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean, German text on verso (centrefold extensively repaired including 60mm horizontal tear across), 410 x 515mm.
FINELY COLOURED MAP OF THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE. Later issue (after 1638), without the coat-of arms and the dedication to David de Wilhem, signed Willem and Joan Blaeu. Instead this area of the map has been re-engraved with the words 'Persiae Pars', while the signature 'Ioannes Ianßonius excudit' now appears in the lower right-hand corner.
