With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1980 and its subsequent sale on October 31st of the same year. Further accompanied by a Patek Philippe presentation box.

Reference 2499/100 also known as the fourth and last series of this landmark model, was only in production for about five years from 1980-85. It is considered today the last true vintage complicated Patek Philippe wristwatch before a new era started with the launch of reference 3970. A true successor to a four decade long production run, reference 2499/100 was fitted with a sapphire crystal reserved only for this last series.

The present example, one of the earliest ever made of this series, comes in extraordinarily original and hardly used or polished condition, probably retaining the factory finish to its case back and very crisp hallmarks on the band at the 9 o'clock. The definition to the stepped lugs is of excellent quality and the dial has never been touched nor does it display any irregularities or oxidation. We understand it was originally delivered to the U.S. market as it features in the center of the case back the typical 18K mark and was later the pride of the celebrated collector Mel Blanc whose collection was sold at Christie's New York in October 29, 1997, where acquired by the current owner. Few complicated Patek Philippe wristwatches can meet so comfortably all demands a sophisticated and educated collector can demand ranging from mechanical complexity to fantastic timeless design, paired with superb provenance, immaculate condition and such a high level of wearability. This premium quality specimen will for sure bring enormous satisfaction to its next owner and is a serious collector's watch to be considered for any aficionado.
